This Place Does Not Exist juxtaposes artist interpreted landscapes with artificial intelligence interpretations of the same location. Neither of these is a direct, photographic representation of the chosen place and is filtered through either the artist’s lens or AI’s lens of image production. With the proliferation of AI content invading the creative sphere, this work seeks to critique the current limits of AI by reproducing these generated images using the mechanical CMYK printing process. The CMYK prints are accompanied by poetry, also generated using the same AI text prompt. Which interpretation is more real or valid?

The artist’s interpretations of the same locations are presented as centerfolds, allowing the viewer to become immersed in these spaces. These prints are multiple plate linoleum reductive prints with each print having a minimum of 10 layers.

For comparison’s sake, photogravure prints of the actual reference photos used for this work accompany the artist book and are presented inside a folio in the custom enclosure.
